加拿大國際政治專業(yè)是政治學的一個分支，是揭示國際社會中各種國際政治行為主體之間的政治關系及其發(fā)展變化的一般規(guī)律的一門學科。其內容分四個層次：國際社會、行為主體、政治關系、一般規(guī)律。它是國際社會和國際交往發(fā)展到一定階段的產物，在一戰(zhàn)后才作為一個獨立學科在社會科學領域占有一席之地。它也是一門交叉學科，包括國際關系理論、國際關系史、當代國際政治問題三個基本成分，對國際政治有重要指導作用。其主要流派有理想主義學派、現實主義學派、新現實主義學派等。
