It includes the following projected costs: books and supplies, $1,320, and medical insurance, $1,544. Itemized cost estimates are expected to increase about five percent each year. Students will not receive financial assistance to cope with these rising expenses. It is important to plan accordingly. University fees are subject to change without notice. Miscellaneous expenses are estimated at $2,430, but not included in the summary as this figure will vary considerably depending on lifestyle. For this reason, the University requires all international students to purchase and maintain health insurance coverage and it strongly encourages married students to carry health insurance coverage for their dependents in the United States. There are many options available to meet this requirement. First, if your home country has a national insurance program that will also cover you in the United States, then no additional insurance is required by the University. Second, you may be able to purchase medical insurance in your home country at a much lower cost, but you must ensure this coverage will be valid in the United States while you are a full-time student. Third, you may purchase the University’s student health plan. Fourth, you may purchase another private insurance plan, but you will be responsible to ensure the private health insurance provides reasonable coverage and acceptable payments should you submit an insurance claim. In all cases, you will be required to submit proof of insurance upon arrival to the University.
