管理信息系統(tǒng)(MIS)是一個(gè)以人為主導(dǎo)的，利用計(jì)算機(jī)硬件、軟件和網(wǎng)絡(luò)設(shè)備，進(jìn)行信息的收集、傳遞、存儲(chǔ)、加工、整理的系統(tǒng)。它將商業(yè)和信息技術(shù)完美的結(jié)合起來，從而使信息獲取更為便捷，工作更為高效，很大程度上提高組織的經(jīng)營效率。不同于信息系統(tǒng)，管理信息系統(tǒng)是一個(gè)有計(jì)劃的系統(tǒng)，通過收集、儲(chǔ)存和傳遞必要的資料，達(dá)到管理的功能。MIS的全稱是Management Information System，管理信息系統(tǒng)(或者把M去掉，就是IS)。有許多與MIS相似的專業(yè)，例如Information System，Information TechnologyManagement等，如華盛頓大學(xué)開設(shè)的相關(guān)專業(yè)為InformationSystem，伍斯特理工大學(xué)開設(shè)的相關(guān)專業(yè)為Information Technology Management。
