在加拿大的專業(yè)設置中，計算機科學(Computer science)是一門獨立的學科，而計算機工程(Computer engineering)則屬于電子電氣工程(Electrical & Computer Engineering)下屬的一個分支，從學習內(nèi)容上來說，(Computer science)主要偏軟件，而Computer engineering主要偏硬件。
加拿大計算機科學和計算機工程碩士專業(yè)設置：
計算機科學：研究型一般有：Master of Science。
計算機工程：屬于電子電氣工程(Electrical & Computer Engineering)下屬的一個分支，在加拿大，研究生階段大部分院校都是Electrical & Computer Engineering，簡稱ECE，很少單獨開設Computer Engineering。
加拿大計算機科學和計算機工程碩士學位設置：
計算機科學：授課型有：Master of Science in Applied Computing (MScAC)或者Master of Science (MSc);學制：授課型一般是1~2年，研究型一般是2年;學院設置：一般是在理學院或者文理學院中開設。
