一、Dutch higher education
High quality in an international setting.
Higher education in Holland is known for its high quality and its international study environment. With more than 2,100 international study programmes and courses, it has the largest offer of English-taught programmes in continental Europe.
Dutch higher education also has reasonable tuition fees.

Binary system
Dutch higher education has a binary system, which means that you can choose between two types of education:
1.research-oriented education, offered by research universities;
2.higher professional education, offered by universities of applied sciences.
A third, smaller branch of higher education is provided by institutes for international education, which offer programmes designed especially for international students.

Three cycles
In 2002 Holland introduced the bachelor’s-master’s degree structure, but the distinction between the two types of education still exists. Both research universities and universities of applied sciences can award a bachelor's or a master's degree.
You first obtain a bachelor’s degree (first cycle), you can then continue to study for a master’s degree (second cycle). After completion of a master’s programme you can start a PhD degree or PDeng degree programme (third cycle).
三個(gè)階段

Internship
Many students do an internship as part of their study programme. As a foreign student, you may also be interested in doing an internship in the Netherlands.

二、Dutch institutions
Holland has various types of higher education institutions. The two main types are research universities and universities of applied sciences.
Research universities are mainly responsible for offering research-oriented programmes in an academic setting.
Universities of applied sciences offer programmes that focus on the practical application of arts and sciences. These tend to be more practice oriented than programmes offered by research universities and they prepare students for specific professions.

Other education institutions
A third, smaller branch of higher education are the institutes for international education, which offer programmes designed especially for international students.
There are a few other institutions that also offer international degree programmes or short courses, usually in a specific field of study.

Tuition fees
Annual tuition fees for EU students start at approximately €1,950. For non-EU students the average tuition fee for bachelor’s programmes is between €6,000 and €15,000, for a master’s programme between €8,000 and €20,000.

Standards for institutions
The Dutch institutions offer international students a guarantee of the quality of their programmes, student recruitment, selection and counselling procedures in a Code of Conduct.
The code sets out standards for Dutch the higher education institutions in their dealings with international students. Only institutions that have signed up to the code are allowed to recruit international students.

Higher education in Holland has a worldwide reputation for its high quality. Dutch institutions score high in the main rankings. This quality is guaranteed through a national system of regulation and quality assurance.

International rankings
Twelve Dutch research universities are among the top 200 universities in the world and thirteen are among the best in Europe. This shows that the academic quality of Dutch institutions is well recognised.

Recognised degrees
Degree programmes at higher education institutions in Holland must be evaluated against a specific set of criteria, to assess content and level. This is officially laid down in the Dutch Higher Education and Research Act.
Programmes that meet the criteria are accredited (i.e. officially recognised) by the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO). This system was set up to guarantee that these higher education programmes meet the highest standards.

Foreign accreditations
The fact that a course is not accredited does not mean that it does not meet certain quality criteria.
Institutions may also offer bachelor’s, master’s or other programmes that have been accredited in another country. In these cases, the degree may be recognised in that country, but not necessarily in Holland.

The Dutch teaching style is interactive and student-centred. It focuses on teamwork, which makes it easy to meet other international students. Studying in Holland means developing an open mind and increasing your international orientation.

A large part of all study programmes is dedicated to writing papers and working in groups to analyse and solve specific problems. You will also get a chance to get practical work experience through internships or do experiments in laboratories, depending on the field of study.

In 2014-2015 Holland hosted 90,000 international students.

56,288 students from EU countries and EFTA countries (Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland);

Another 10,298 students came to Holland within the Erasmus+ programme, or with a residence permit for an internship.
