We are offering eight bursaries, each with a value of £750, with an associated experience day at Roche and yearlong mentoring support from a member of the business with a discipline relevant to the student’s subject.
Mentoring will be a minimum of one hour per month for 12 months and may take place either remotely or face to face.
The experience day will be held at the Roche premises in Welwyn and will be a combination of:
(i) an introduction to Roche and careers here;
(ii) practical workshops (CV and interviewing skills); and
(iii) a half day shadowing within a Roche team;
The experience day will take place at Roche’s UK pharmaceutical premises in Welwyn, Hertfordshire during Spring 2018 (for 2017 awardees).

As part of this, applicants will need to include a 300-word answer to the following questions in order to demonstrate strong leadership potential to date:
(i) What they think it means to be a leader; and
(ii) Describing a situation where they demonstrated leadership.
The bursaries will be presented to successful applicants in October 2017 at a landmark event at each university campus.
Applications open on 1st MAY 2017 and close at 5pm on 30TH JUNE 2017.
Applications will be reviewed during July 2017 with a shortlist prepared by a core review team within Roche.
Shortlisted candidates will be notified by 31ST JULY 2017.
Following this, shortlisted students will need to prepare a 5-minute video outlining what they would do if they were world leader and had to solve a particular world problem. Videos must be submitted by 31ST AUGUST 2017.
Successful applicants will be informed by 30th SEPTEMBER 2017.

(1)What is the Harilela Scholarship?
The Harilela Scholarships have been established by Aron Harilela, a generous donor and friend of King’s College London.
The Harilela Scholarships aim to support Hong Kong residents planning to study for a three year undergraduate programme in the School of Management and Business. The Scholarships will be awarded based on financial need and academic excellence.
In the academic year 2017-18, two scholarships will be available. The value of each award is £45,000 (£15,000 per year, for three years) to support tuition fees.

The winner will be selected on the basis of a personal statement as well as demonstrable financial hardship. Applicants must have firmly accepted a confirmed place to study at King’s College London in September 2017.

A King’s law alumna, Francesca Quint, is providing a £5,000 annual bursary to support one talented law student from a less advantaged background with their living costs whilst studying the 3 year undergraduate Law LLB course within the Dickson Poon School of Law.
The £15,000 shall be made available to the winner in six instalments across their three years of study.

(1)What is the Perseverance Trust Scholarship?
The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery at King’s College London is pleased to announce that five King’s scholarships are available for its Nursing and Midwifery 3 year degree students. The new scholarships have been established through a generous donation from The Perseverance Trust.
The scholarships are based on both financial circumstances and academic standing, and can be used to fund living expenses during the full length of the programme, for students enrolling in September 2017.
Each scholarship is worth £7,500 and is paid over the three years of the course.
Successful candidates will receive £2,500 in each year of study, dependent upon satisfactory academic and clinical placement progression, and receipt of occupational health and Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) clearance by 7th October 2017. Scholarships will not cover periods of repeat or interrupted study.

have exceeded your UCAS offer;
provide a written statement of 300-500 words;
be a full-time, home, first degree student;
be in good academic standing;
have a household income of £25,000 or less;
be starting your course in September 2017;
be in receipt of occupational health and Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) clearance by 9th October.

The full scholarship is worth £7,500 in total. Successful candidates will receive £2,500 in each year of study, which will be split into two instalments each.
The first instalment will be released with notification of a successful application, and the second instalment will be released in February 2017, dependent upon continued attendance and satisfactory academic progress.
Scholarships will not cover periods of repeat or interrupted study.

(1)Am I eligible for the King's Living Bursary scheme?
The bursary differs slightly depending on the year you start at King's.
You will not need to apply for the bursary - as long as you meet the criteria below and you and your sponsors both give Student Finance England/Northern Ireland/Wales/SAAS 'consent to share' your financial information with us, you will be contacted once you have started at King's.

(2)New Students in 2017-18
The King’s Living Bursary scheme is open to every full-time home first degree student who has been means-tested with a final income assessment of £42,641 or less, on the £9,250 tuition fee rate. You must be means-tested by Student Finance England/Wales/N.Ireland/SAAS even if you do not intend to take up the maintenance loan. You must also give consent to share your household income data with the university. NHS funded and graduate students are not eligible.
As a new full-time home undergraduate student starting university in 2017, the level of bursary you receive will depend on your income and that of your household. You must qualify for the bursary by July 2018 for a payment in 2017-18. Eligibility is checked for each year of your course. This bursary is for costs whilst you are studying and does not have to be repaid.

(5)Important note
In order to receive your King's Living Bursary you must ensure that you AND your parent(s)/guardian/spouse have all given consent to share your financial data with the College.
If you have given your consent to share, King’s College London will receive this information electronically from the SLC.
If you have not given your consent to share, then you and your parent(s)/guardian/spouse can contact Student Finance at any time during the year to give consent.
To confirm your identity, you and your parent(s)/guardian/spouse will need to have your Automated Response Numbers (ART ID)/ Customer Reference Number to hand. You will also need to know your secret answers that will have been given to each of you by the SLC. You and your family members will each have your own ART ID and secret answer.

(6)When will I receive my King's Living Bursary?
You will receive your bursary in two equal instalments - usually in November and February - over your academic year and it does not have to be repaid. Payment will be made by BACS, and you will be asked to provide your bank details via your online student records portal to enable this after you have enrolled. Bursary payments will not be issued if you are no longer in attendance on your course.
Instalment dates are mid November 2017, and mid February 2018.
You will be contacted about your bursary by mid November.
You do not need to apply to the King's Living Bursary scheme, as we will receive notification from the SLC of your Maintenance Grant or household income entitlement.

Women in Science Scholarships

The Women in Science Scholarship scheme is funded by the Faculty of Natural & Mathematical Sciences as part of our commitment to increasing the representation of female students studying STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) subjects. The scholarships are designed to offer financial assistance to outstanding candidates during their undergraduate studies (for up to 3 years).
We have scholarships available worth £3,000, for Home/EU female students in the Faculty of Natural & Mathematical Sciences, who are undertaking undergraduate studies in the areas of mathematics, physics, computer science or chemistry and are beginning their studies in 2017.

How much is the Women in Science scholarship?
The Faculty will be offering Women in Science scholarships worth £3,000 each to those applicants who are successful throughout their undergraduate programme, for a maximum of three year of study.
The scholarships are designed to offer assistance to outstanding candidates undertaking these undergraduate programmes.

Am I eligible for the Women in Science scholarship?
In order to be eligible to apply for the scholarship, applicants must:
be assessed as having Home/EU fee status
be a female* applicant to the Faculty of Natural & Mathematical Sciences applying for an undergraduate programme in the Departments of Chemistry, Informatics, Mathematics or Physics**;
have achieved, or be predicted, at least AAA at A-level or equivalent (conditional offers will be made to those awaiting results); and
not be a current student in the Faculty of Natural & Mathematical Sciences.
*this also includes non-binary or trans applicants
** this includes those with offers for joint honours progammes where the main department is located within the Faculty of Natural & Mathematical Sciences
