I am the Principal of Zhejiang University of Technology， and it is my great pleasure to recommend a student of ours， XXX， in her application to your school.
Our goal as a university is to cultivate students who have high levels of skill in their chosen discipline along with a commitment to social contribution. We also aim to help promote the economic development of Zhejiang Province. At present， to further implement the national policy of invigorating the country through science and education， we are prioritizing research and endeavoring to become a first-rate university in both teaching and research， thus making a solid contribution to the invigoration and prosperity of China. In line with these goals， we have established partnerships with more than 30 universities from America， Britain， France， Germany， Japan， Belgium， Australia and Russia to conduct academic exchange， scientific research and cooperation.
I first met XXX when she competed in the ‘Challenge Cup’ Extracurricular and Academic Contest in 2009. Her team won a national first prize for the university in that contest. Her project concerned the revival of ancient architecture clusters， and it impressed me very much with its high academic value. I was equally impressed by XXX’s strong sense of social responsibility. Then， in the same year， XXX won another national first prize with her partners， this time in a national architectural design contest.
XXX has also accumulated rich internship experience. She has interned at the Design Institute of Landscape & Architecture， the China Academy of Art， and Zhejiang Province Institute of Architectural Design and Research， for example. During these internships， she has participated in planning and design of several major construction projects including a creative industrial park， stadium and gymnasium， and a large-scale hospital. Through this process， her skills in professional knowledge， leadership and communication have increased markedly.
In March 2010， XXX proposed several suggestions to the local authority for a street planning event. She illustrated her ideas on elevated highways， street planning， and the revival of Hangzhou’s architectural relics. I commend her strong concern for her hometown’s social development.
XXX’s great achievements in extracurricular contests are inseparable from her outstanding endeavors at school. She has studied with rigor and dedication， and kept a good academic record. In the two consecutive years of her junior and senior year， XXX’s GPA ranked first in her department， and won a first-class scholarship from the school authority several times. In 2010， an essay she wrote as lead author， Exploration of Rebuilding Industrial Heritage： Hangxielian Thermal Power Plant was published in the journal Zhejiang Architecture. This paper was thoroughly researched and well-received.
Outside the classroom， XXX is a core member of the Student Union’s Publicity Department. In this role， she has organized a range of praiseworthy activities， and refined her leadership skills.
