design，intention，purpose打算，意圖
design
①主要指人的意圖、打算。常用by ~表示“有意地”
This happened by design, not by accident.這是有意安排的，而并非偶然發(fā)生的
②有時(shí)指不好的意圖，見(jiàn)于短語(yǔ)have designs on sb/sth，“對(duì)某人存心不良，企圖將某物據(jù)為己有”
intention
含義同design①。常與動(dòng)詞不定式連用，也用于haveno~ of doing sth/with the~ of doing sth的結(jié)構(gòu)中。
announced his intention to marry表明他想結(jié)婚的意圖
purpose
含義較廣，可指人或物的意圖、目的、用途等。也常用for the ~of，意為“為了……(目的)”。
The purpose of the book is to provide a guideto the university.本書(shū)旨在介紹這所大學(xué)。
element, essence, factor, point 要素重點(diǎn)
element
“(事物中的)要素”，強(qiáng)調(diào)該部分不可或缺
