一、推薦信中的優(yōu)點(diǎn)寫作
對(duì)申請(qǐng)人的優(yōu)點(diǎn)介紹及評(píng)價(jià)，這是推薦信的核心。主要包括申請(qǐng)人的天賦，學(xué)習(xí)成績(jī)，研究能力，工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)，學(xué)習(xí)精神，組織能力，品行及個(gè)性方面。推薦人寫申請(qǐng)人的優(yōu)點(diǎn)時(shí)應(yīng)注意事項(xiàng)：
1、客觀評(píng)價(jià)申請(qǐng)人的成就，避免贊美過度
推薦人應(yīng)該表明推薦人對(duì)于申請(qǐng)人的目的、學(xué)習(xí)成績(jī)、科研能力等方面有一定了解，并能解釋申請(qǐng)人進(jìn)一步深造的需要。很多推薦信把申請(qǐng)人吹成了一個(gè)甚至比教授還牛的專家，就失去了推薦信的意義，既然已經(jīng)是大師級(jí)人物了，還用去留學(xué)嗎？
2、插入申請(qǐng)人的一些具體實(shí)例，避免泛泛的贊美之詞
推薦信中對(duì)于申請(qǐng)人的重要素質(zhì)和能力要有實(shí)例的支持。作為推薦教授，總是可以講述申請(qǐng)人在做一些科研項(xiàng)目時(shí)的責(zé)任和表現(xiàn)。作為申請(qǐng)人的老板，總是能說出申請(qǐng)人某一項(xiàng)具體成就。就像寫自述信時(shí)一樣，拿出一張紙，一邊寫出自己的品質(zhì)，優(yōu)點(diǎn)，在另一邊注明至少一個(gè)實(shí)例。切記：推薦不是吹捧，所以推薦信的“裝扮”要適度，不能太花哨，太渲染。要盡量用平實(shí)可信的語言，增加細(xì)節(jié)性的例證說明。
3、轉(zhuǎn)換語言風(fēng)格和思維角度，增加推薦可信度
自己給自己寫推薦信不僅僅是擺事實(shí)的問題，還有一個(gè)口吻，行文問題。首先是內(nèi)容上，除了補(bǔ)充自己自述中所沒有的方面外，對(duì)于一些重要的成就和優(yōu)點(diǎn)進(jìn)行論述時(shí)，要從推薦人的角度考慮，切勿簡(jiǎn)單重復(fù)自述信或簡(jiǎn)歷中的內(nèi)容；其次是語言風(fēng)格上，用詞上要注意變換，不要出現(xiàn)你自述信中常用的習(xí)語等，最后在推薦信用的紙張、信封、字體、字號(hào)、段落等方面盡量避免雷同。
二、推薦信中的缺點(diǎn)寫作
1、推薦信里申請(qǐng)人的缺點(diǎn)不能是原則性的
推薦信的缺點(diǎn)不能是原則性的，原則性缺點(diǎn)包括很多，比如為人處世、馬虎大意等等，這些讓人家一看就沒有好感的缺點(diǎn)千萬不要寫。同時(shí)，在圍繞專業(yè)的這部分內(nèi)容方面，也要注意分寸。例如，說申請(qǐng)人很努力，但是專業(yè)方面仍然有不足，學(xué)習(xí)能力仍然有待加強(qiáng)，這樣可以，這是謙虛的表現(xiàn)，同時(shí)也側(cè)面寫出了申請(qǐng)人的優(yōu)點(diǎn)。但是，如果說申請(qǐng)人遇到挫折就沒有耐心，麻痹大意，甚至無法和申請(qǐng)人一起在專業(yè)方面合作等等，這種缺點(diǎn)千萬不能要寫。
2、適當(dāng)提及自己的“缺點(diǎn)”
一封推薦信如果闡述的完全是被推薦的同學(xué)的優(yōu)點(diǎn)，不免讓人覺得有粉飾之嫌，如果能恰當(dāng)?shù)丶尤胍恍叭秉c(diǎn)”，不僅能令推薦信真實(shí)，還會(huì)通過“似貶實(shí)褒”，反而突出了被推薦人的特殊氣質(zhì)。例如在推薦信中可以考慮加入這樣的詞句：“該生有時(shí)因?yàn)檫^分專注于研究工作而難以平衡生活各方面的關(guān)系，這不失為一種美中不足”。這句話似乎是在談“缺點(diǎn)”，但很明顯這樣的“缺點(diǎn)”其實(shí)正是很多專業(yè)最渴望的“缺點(diǎn)”——廢寢忘食的工作態(tài)度，從而使得“缺點(diǎn)”也為申請(qǐng)?zhí)峁┝司薮髱椭?BR> 3、推薦信里的缺點(diǎn)針對(duì)自己的專業(yè)也要有分寸
可以考慮針對(duì)你的專業(yè)， 不注重的地方， 寫一些缺點(diǎn)。比如你以后是要做研究的， 你就不能說自己沒耐心， 不注意細(xì)節(jié)，或者以后你是要跟人打交道多的， 你就不能說自己不善于和人相處， 交流等等。推薦信里的缺點(diǎn)不要影響你所學(xué)專業(yè)，但是要看起來要真實(shí)一點(diǎn)， 而且不能跟你其他部分寫的有矛盾。在推薦信中不要用盡所有表現(xiàn)人類美德、才華和優(yōu)秀的形容詞，卻沒有一個(gè)具體例證。在推薦信中適當(dāng)提及缺點(diǎn)是非常有必要的，但是這個(gè)缺點(diǎn)最好不要針對(duì)自己所學(xué)的專業(yè)。
所謂“金無赤足人無完人”，即便是要申請(qǐng)出國(guó)留學(xué)，也不可能把自己說的是十全十美，那么在推薦信中，如何權(quán)衡這一點(diǎn)呢？因?yàn)橥扑]信最重要的一個(gè)標(biāo)準(zhǔn)就是真實(shí)性，最好的辦法就是客觀公正，對(duì)于優(yōu)點(diǎn)要大力褒揚(yáng)，而對(duì)于缺點(diǎn)，也不要太過掩飾，否則會(huì)讓校方覺得不真實(shí)。

Dear Sir/ Madam，
I am writing this letter of recommendation for Mr.Cai， my former student. I have known Mr. Cai for more than 6 years since his freshman year at ＂University of Minnesota＂. At that time， he took the course-- ＂Mathematical Analysis，＂ which I taught mainly for junior students majoring in Mathematics. To my surprise， I found he was among the few students in his class who could keep up with the pace of my lectures. Moreover， he often posed thought-provoking questions during the course. Thus it was natural that I liked discussing with this young man and became familiar with him. The more I knew him， the more I found he was talented at mathematics.
