想要練好新托福口語(yǔ)，至少要選一套好的教材。好的教材應(yīng)該情景分類，告訴你在什么場(chǎng)合說(shuō)什么樣的話，最好能附有文化背景的介紹，因?yàn)闁|西方文化差異大，同樣的場(chǎng)景，用中式思想表達(dá)可能會(huì)鬧出不少笑話。口語(yǔ)教材最好配有磁帶，以便模仿和記憶。建議選用由英、美國(guó)人編寫的經(jīng)典口語(yǔ)教材，例如《走遍美國(guó)》、《英語(yǔ) 900句》等。
口語(yǔ)教材選定以后, 就要反復(fù)跟磁帶模仿直至能完全背誦。如何檢驗(yàn)自己對(duì)教材的掌握程度呢? 把句型的英文遮住，對(duì)著中文說(shuō)英文，再把中文遮住，對(duì)著英文說(shuō)中文，如果能流利做到這兩點(diǎn)，基本就算過(guò)了背誦這一關(guān)了。
另外，在學(xué)習(xí)過(guò)程中, 要特別注意那些與中式思維不同的表達(dá)方式， 比如說(shuō)，“Would you mind giving me a push?” 很多人會(huì)不假思索地答“Yes, of course”， 其實(shí)正確回答應(yīng)該是“Not at all”。
