近日本站從ETS（美國(guó)教育考試中心）網(wǎng)站獲悉，ETS除了將在2005年10月推出新托福以外，同時(shí)正在計(jì)劃于2006年10月開始對(duì)GRE考試進(jìn)行一項(xiàng)較大的改革，使GRE考試能夠更準(zhǔn)確、科學(xué)的反映考試者的能力。改革主要針對(duì)GRE考試中的Verbal和Quantitative兩部分，erbal部分將會(huì)增加閱讀的文章篇幅，將會(huì)更加貼近美國(guó)研究生教育的要求；Quantitative部分除了現(xiàn)在的選擇題以外，將會(huì)增加一定數(shù)量的主觀題。從總體來看，考試難度將會(huì)顯著增加。目前這項(xiàng)改革對(duì)中國(guó)學(xué)生的影響還沒有顯現(xiàn)出來，但可以看出，在留學(xué)考試市場(chǎng)競(jìng)爭(zhēng)日趨激烈的背景下，ETS正在試圖通過一系列的變革來鞏固自己在留學(xué)考試市場(chǎng)中的地位。

Changes to the GRE General Test Being Investigated

The current GRE General Test contains three measures: verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing. The GRE Program is investigating possible changes to the verbal reasoning and/or quantitative reasoning measures in order to increase the validity of the test measures and provide faculty with improved information on which to base their decisions. The GRE Program is currently planning to implement these changes in October 2006.
The avenues under consideration for the verbal measure include:
·More text-based materials such as reading passages
·A broader selection of reading passages
·Emphasis on skills related to graduate work such as complex reasoning
·Expansion of computer-enabled tasks The avenues under consideration for the quantitative measure include:
·More depth of quantitative reasoning skills

·Question types that require production, rather than selection, of answers
