(A: Mr. Smith; B: Miss Gao)
A: How is going with the proposal for the exhibition in the United States, Miss Gao?
B: Well, I've made a draft of that. Shall I read it for you? A: That's right. Go ahead.
B: (Reading voice) A proposal for an Exhibition of Chinese products to be held in USA. Timing: We are planning a six-week event titled Chinese Products Festival to take place in October, 2000. It would be done in the eight Sincere' s stores simultaneously. For the promotion, the key locations are New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington; four of the ten largest cities in the United States. Within each store, we would endeavor to have separate shops with merchandise from China;model rooms, displays, exhibits, guest appearances and demonstrations. It would be our expectation that during this six-week period, between three and four million people would visit the Sincere' s stores.
A: Wait a minute, Miss Gao. I think you should point out the aim of this exhibition first. Our aim is to portray Sincere' s as worldwide department stores, as well as a source of culture, history and art, and to promote greater understanding of Sincere' s among the many people who visit the eight stores.
B: OK. I'll take care of that. (go on reading) Major events: we plan to launch this promotion with major evening events in each of our stores benefiting such groups as The Asia Society, the Metropolitan Museum or other appropriate groups, with particular emphasis on New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington…。 Sales promotion: During our promotion we plan to develop 30 or 40 pages of newspapers advertising on the promotion as well as advertising in such magazines as The New York, Vogue, New York Magazine, etc. We'll enhance the promotion with catalogs or bill inserts. We would plan to send a group to work on a television tape to be shown in our stores and possibly on local television. We'll develop a special poster, shopping bag and hand bag, as well as a theme for the promotion. Work together with a spirit of friendliness and cooperation to develop a major exhibit that will make the American people more aware of the greatness of China…。
A: Oh, not bad. We will need cooperation in developing art work for posters, merchandise bags and shopping bags. I'm sure Mr. Parker will manage that.
