A bolt from the blue
     這條短語在所有講英語的國家中使用得都很廣泛。而它的含義也正如其字面意義一樣，不難理解。bolt一詞指的是霹靂，而 blue則指碧藍(lán)的天空，英語詞典一般將其解釋為：some thing sudden and unexpected，也就是“突如其來、始料不及”的意思。
     在日常口語會(huì)話中，人們也常用 out of來代替介詞from。
     如：We had been sure she was in Chicago, so her sudden appearance was a bolt out of the blue。
     我們大家都認(rèn)定她現(xiàn)在在芝加哥，因此她的突然出現(xiàn)完全出乎我們的預(yù)料。
     Miss Anne　has just got her salary raised，so her decision to resign was a bolt from the blue.
