字號(hào):

     The Nike (Victory) of Samothrace is a Rhodian scupltor, between 220 and 190 B.C. marble.
     The Winged Victory, considered the finest extant Hellenistic Greek sculpture, portrays the goddess of victory alighting on a ship's prow, with her wings spread and her clinging garments rippling in the wind. The broken sculpture was discovered on the Aegean island of Samothrace in 1863 and immediately sent to the Louvre Museum in Paris.
     Today, it is one of the most celebrated sculptures and one can see it displayed on the landing of the Daru Staircase in the Louvre. The statue's head and arms are missing, but the part that remains is so full of movement and beauty that it feels complete.
