The Hoop Craze

字號(hào):

Hula hoops (呼啦圈) are sweeping all over China. More and more people, especially children, are crazy about the game. When the hoop craze started in Xi'an, our school followed it at once. The colourful hoops are like flowers in bloom making the school full of life.
    The hoop originated (起源) in the West and in the 1950s the craze was at its height. But why is it popular now in China? The reason is simple. The living standard of the people has much improved since the reforms. People don't have to worry about food or clothing. They begin to pay more attention to health. The hoop can help people keep fit and slim. It's a fine sport for bodybuilding. The hoop is particularly (尤其) fit for students who spend most of their time bending over desks reading and writing. It's easy to play with. I saw a girl on TV who could make five hoops turn around her waist at the same time. Her highest record was 20 , which left a deep impression on TV viewers. The hoops aren't expensive and each of us can afford it. Hula hoops are full of fun. Where there is the hoop, there is laughter. That's why the hoop is the latest craze in China.
