不過，從前英國人認(rèn)為腦袋里有蛆蟲（maggot），只會(huì)使人產(chǎn)生種種古怪念頭。所以，說人家異想天開，他們會(huì)說have a maggot in one's head，例如：You must have a maggot in your head if you believe that Mr. Patten genuinely cares about Hong Kong people （假如你以為彭定康先生真的關(guān)心香港人，那是異想天開了）。
此外，英國人還有when the maggot bites（蛆蟲咬嚙的時(shí)候）這個(gè)說法，意思是「忽發(fā)奇想」，例如：When the maggot bites, he will go fishing in the rain（他有時(shí)心血來潮，會(huì)冒著雨走去釣魚）。
