四級的翻譯屬于綜合測試部分，考試時間只有五分鐘，占的分值亦微不足道。平心而論，這幾道題難度并不高，也就是高中水平的翻譯。其實，這種題型根本不配叫翻譯，充其量是造句練習(xí)。
大英四級以前考過兩次英譯漢，已經(jīng)沒有研究價值。我們從2006年6月的新題型（漢譯英）開始著手。到目前為止，這種題一共考了三次。每次五道，一共15道題。我們把這15道題歸納成三大考點：語法結(jié)構(gòu) （grammar）、重點單詞 （key words）、固定搭配 （set structures）。
一．語法結(jié)構(gòu)（grammar）：考了九道，非常重要?？疾斓恼Z法點：動名詞、虛擬語氣、倒裝、狀語從句（最常考）、定語從句。
1．動名詞 （gerund ）：一道。
87. Having spent some time in the city, he had no trouble finding the way to the history museum. (找到去歷史博物館的路) (2006. 6 ) 強化例句：
After having spent whole mornings on the river, I always go home with an empty bag. （新概念英語）

2．虛擬語氣（subjunctive mood）：一道。

3．倒裝 （inversion）：樣題

考點：Not only 引起的部分倒裝 （助動詞提前）

4．狀語從句（adverbial clauses）：六道。重要考點。
1） 目的狀語 （adverbial clauses of purpose）：一道。

下面是答題步驟：五分鐘，一分鐘一道。
第一步：通讀句子，英漢一起讀，理解句意。
第二步：利用動詞、時間狀語等線索，確定句子的時態(tài)。如2006. 12. 88：
Since my childhood I have found that to me, nothing is more interesting than reading. (沒有什么比讀書對我更有吸引力) Have found 提醒：后面一定要用一般現(xiàn)在時。
2006. 12. 89：
The victim might have survived （本來會有機會活下來）if he had been taken to hospital in time.
Had been 提醒句子談的是過去，人現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)死了。
2006. 6. 91：
Though a skilled worker, he was fired by the company (他被公司解雇了) last week because of the economic crisis.
Last week 提醒句子要用過去時。
第三步：漢譯英。注意，先翻譯謂語動詞，把它放在前面。動詞（動詞詞組）一確定，你就成功了一半。如下面這個漢語句子：
我鄰居去東京渡假，因為錢不夠，回不了家了。
先找謂語動詞。這句話中有兩個動作，“去渡假”和“回家”。哪個重要？哪個是說話人要告訴你的重要信息？是“回不了家”，所以 return 是謂語動詞。
先翻譯核心意思：My neighbor couldn’t return home.
接著，“渡假”“錢不夠”一前一后加上，把核心意思捧出來：
My neighbor, who went to Tokyo for a holiday, couldn’t return home because he didn’t have enough money. (新概念英語)
再如2007. 6. 90：

再如 2006. 12. 90：

如果謂語動詞不用你翻，就抓中文里面的關(guān)鍵詞 (key word)。如2007. 6. 91：

迅速想出關(guān)鍵詞“方便”的英文單詞和用法：
第一， it 結(jié)構(gòu)：It is convenient for somebody …
第二， at 結(jié)構(gòu)：at one’s convenience 有了主干，再往上添枝加葉就容易多了。
第四步：通讀句子，檢查錯誤。看看句子是否通順，你的翻譯跟原來的英文是否協(xié)調(diào)一致。
注意，實在翻不出來，就不要硬拼，繞過石頭曲折前進，小溪才能匯入大海。.教大家一種“反譯”的小技巧，非常管用。其中奧妙不必言傳。各位都是明白人：
1．There’s still water in the rivers. 河還沒有干。
2．Students are still arriving. 學(xué)生們還沒有到齊。
3．他每次都贏：He never loses.
4．我天天想你：There’s never been a day when I didn’t miss you.
