    Dad Is Ill
    1--Dad was really bad-tempered last night. And it’s
    not like him. He used to like meeting my friends.
    2--Well, I’m afraid you’ve come at rather a bad time.
    1--What do you mean?
    2--Well, I wasn’t going to tell you...He hasn’t been feeling very well lately.
    1--Has he seen the doctor?
    2--Yes, he had a check-up last month. The doctor says he may have to go into hospital.
    1--Oh no! What is it, exactly?
    2--They’re not sure. But they think it may be his heart.
    1--Oh, perhaps I ought to stay here, then. The others can go without me.
    2--No, there’s no point in that. It probably isn’t serious at all. And please, Jane, don’t say anything to your Dad about this...

    注釋?zhuān)?BR>    1)be bad-tempered:心情、情緒很不好。temper作“情緒”“脾氣”解。bad-tempered是形容詞+名詞+ed構(gòu)成的表語(yǔ)形容詞。類(lèi)似的短語(yǔ)還有be warm-hearted,be absent-minded,be short-sighted等。
    2)used to用以表示過(guò)去經(jīng)常的情況。注意be usedto(doing)的區(qū)別。
    3)There’s no point in that:point作“意義”;“目的”解。這句話(huà)也可改為T(mén)here is no point in doing so.

    2--Yes, I see. Go home to bed and take one of these pills every three hours.

    1)black or white coffee:加糖或加牛奶的稱(chēng)作white coffee.什么也不加的稱(chēng)作black coffee.
    2)folk concert:民間音樂(lè)會(huì)。folk作“民間的”、“具有民族傳說(shuō)的”解。如folk dance,folk music,folk songs, folk tale等。
    3)classical:經(jīng)典的。如classical music, classical literature等。
    4)How about...?(你以為)...怎么樣?征詢(xún)對(duì)方的意見(jiàn)時(shí)常用的句型。如,征詢(xún)關(guān)于時(shí)間安排的意見(jiàn)時(shí),可以說(shuō)How about tomorrow?征詢(xún)活動(dòng)內(nèi)容時(shí)可以說(shuō)How about playing tennis now?征詢(xún)?nèi)诉x意見(jiàn)可以說(shuō)How about Jane?等
