澳大利亞人非常喜歡烤肉野餐，或者在自家后院，或者在自然保護(hù)區(qū)。這種自然保護(hù)區(qū)大都劃出一定的地方，砌上爐灶（這種爐灶，英語(yǔ)也叫barbecue）,有時(shí)還備有桌凳；供人們野餐時(shí)使用。人們可以自帶木柴，也可以免費(fèi)使用公家提供的木柴，這樣他們就不會(huì)隨便砍樹了。人們到這里來野餐，都要帶肉來烤，通常還要帶沙拉、黃油、面包、水果，甚至糕點(diǎn)。有的人喝灑、啤酒或軟飲料，也有的人在爐灶上燒水泡茶或沖咖啡。夏季干旱，容易發(fā)生火災(zāi)，因此有時(shí)禁止點(diǎn)火，這時(shí)人們就不能烤肉，只好吃冷餐了。
