Ghost在這里的意思不是“鬼”，它后面接“of something”組成“ghost of something”，意思是“一點(diǎn)、一絲”。“Not a ghost of a chance”就是沒(méi)有一點(diǎn)機(jī)會(huì)，也就是毫無(wú)可能。“Ghost of”后面還可以接其它詞，比如“a ghost of a smile”（一絲微笑）。
