英譯漢中的變化（ 2 ）——★用詞上的變化★
例一 ： Interest in historical methods has arisen less throughexternal challenge to the validity of history as an intellectual discipline and more from internal quarrels among historians themselves .(1999 年英譯漢真題 )
分析 ： less through ...... more than ...... 中的 through 和 from 都表示"因?yàn)?，這種用詞上的變化在英語(yǔ)中是非常普遍的。它們的字面意思是"更少是通過(guò)......更多是來(lái)自......"，相當(dāng)于漢語(yǔ)習(xí)慣表達(dá)法"與其說(shuō)是因?yàn)?.....不如說(shuō)是因?yàn)?....."。注意 through 在此與 from 的意思完全一樣，是英語(yǔ)中典型的變化表達(dá)，譯文中使用兩個(gè)"因?yàn)?正好體現(xiàn)了漢語(yǔ)喜歡重復(fù)的特點(diǎn)。
例二 ： The behavioral sciences have been slow to change because the explanatory itemsoften seem to be directly observed and partly because other kinds of explanations have been hard to find. (2002 年英譯漢真題 )
分析 ： explanatory items 與 explanations 實(shí)際上是相同的意思，因?yàn)橹挥忻~意思相同的時(shí)候才有可能用 other 來(lái)修飾，兩個(gè)表達(dá)法都可譯為"（對(duì)行為的）解釋"。
此外，用詞上的變化還體現(xiàn)在劃線(xiàn)句子內(nèi)的用詞與其他句子（包括其他劃線(xiàn)句子和非劃線(xiàn)句子）的用法不一樣，這實(shí)際上是給翻譯提供的一個(gè)機(jī)會(huì)，如果劃線(xiàn)句子中的表達(dá)法好譯，則不用管其他表達(dá)法；如果碰上難譯的表達(dá)法，可從其他句子里尋找線(xiàn)索。

分析 ：句中名詞 man-machine integration 有一定難度，如果知道這個(gè)表達(dá)法，則直接翻譯成"人機(jī)-題化"或者"人機(jī)連接"，萬(wàn)一不知道，這段話(huà)前面還有一個(gè)更加簡(jiǎn)單，意思相同的表達(dá)法-- computer-human links , 我們可以充分利用。

分析 ： historical work 和 historical inquiry 都指文章中的 historical study （歷史研究），如果把 historical work 譯成"歷史工作"，把 historical inquiry 譯成"歷史詢(xún)問(wèn)"。顯然是無(wú)法得分的。

分析 ： the inflationary universe theory 宇宙膨脹學(xué)說(shuō)。 inflationary 不應(yīng)該理解成"通貨膨脹的"，因?yàn)?通貨"是經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)里面的名詞，而這篇文章與經(jīng)濟(jì)無(wú)關(guān)，因此只能理解成"膨脹的"。
