牛津D'Overbroeck's學(xué)院(D’Overbroeck’s) aim is to offer a full and rounded education, which is academically challenging and successful, and to do so in an environment which is happily distinctive: an environment which values individuality; which fosters self-confidence and greater independence; and which gives students the space to be themselves and to grow and develop in a context in which they feel happy and valued.
We have a sixth form of just over 200 students. The student population is roughly 75 per cent British and 25 per cent from overseas and we have a fairly even mix of boarding and day students. On balance, our sixth form is at once big enough to offer richness and diversity, and yet also small enough for everyone to feel very much an important part of it.
    Academic strengths
We work in small classes (generally up to eight students in a class), where the emphasis is on active participation. This makes for lively classes with plenty of scope for discussion, for raising questions and for learning from other people's contributions. This is fundamental to our academic approach.
We are a group of highly experienced teachers many of whom have been working together as a team for a number of years. We thoroughly enjoy working closely with our students in this less formal environment and we have in common an enduring fascination for our subjects and for communicating this enthusiasm to our students.
Our students may choose from an unusually wide variety of subjects at A-level. We offer a choice of over 40 subjects. These include the full range of 'conventional' subjects in the arts, sciences, humanities and social sciences, as well as a number of newer, more 'contemporary' subjects such as business studies, psychology, communication studies, photography, music and technology.
Almost 100 per cent of our students go on to degree courses at universities, medical and veterinary colleges and art schools. Our concern is to ensure that they are guided towards the right combination of university and course.
    Boarding facilities
Around 40 per cent of our sixth formers are residential; the rest live locally and attend the College as day students.
College accommodation takes different forms, consisting broadly of a hall of residence and family accommodation. Having a range of different accommodation options gives us the flexibility to respond to the diversity of needs and preferences of students and parents.
