    名詞whistle的一個主要意思就是警哨、警笛，動詞短語blow the whistle（吹哨子）沿襲下來的意義就表示“告密，揭發(fā)，檢舉（不正當(dāng)行為）”，是個俚語。由此形成的一個名詞“告發(fā)”就是whistleblowing，“告密者”就是whistleblower。
