Early Precaution

There was an American couple who had no children,
so they wanted to adopt a child. Finally, an orphanage
contacted them, saying, "We have a baby for adoption.
It's a Russian orphan." The couple was delighted
and went to bring the baby home.
On the way home, they stopped by a university
to enroll in a Russian course. "Why do you want to learn
Russian? The English that we speak is a very good
language," the university secretary asked.
"Well, we just adopted a Russian baby. When he
begins to speak Russian in a few years, we are
afraid that we might not be able to understand
him," the couple replied.
未雨綢繆
有一對美國夫婦沒有孩子，想領(lǐng)養(yǎng)個小孩。終于有一家
孤兒院通知他們說：「我們現(xiàn)在有一個嬰兒可以讓你們
收養(yǎng)，是個俄國孤兒。」他們很高興，就去把嬰兒抱回去。
在半路上，他們來到一所大學，想要報名學俄語，學校
里的秘書問：「你們?yōu)槭裁匆獙W俄語呢？我們英語
是很好的語言啊！」這對美國夫妻說：「因為我們
剛剛領(lǐng)養(yǎng)了一個俄國嬰兒，幾年后等他開口講
俄語時，到時候我們就聽不懂了！」
