    GARY: I can't have been.
    POLICEMAN: I was doing eighty when I overtook you.
     Didn't you see the speed limit?
    GARY: I'm afraid I didn't, officer.
    GARY: I must have been dreaming.
    ANN: He wasn't dreaming, officer.
     I was telling him to drive slowly.
    GARY: That's why I didn't see the sign.
    POLICEMAN: Let me see your driving licence.
     I won't charge you this time.
     But you'd better not do it again!
    GARY: Thank you. I'll certainly be more careful.
    ANN: I told you to drive slowly, Gary.
    GARY: You always tell me to drive slowly, darling.
    ANN: Well, next time you'd better take my advice!

    1、Where do you think you are?
    do you think是用在特殊疑問(wèn)句中的插入語(yǔ),用來(lái)征詢(xún)見(jiàn)解或表達(dá)看法。
    入語(yǔ)一般是對(duì)句子加一些附加解釋?zhuān)诰渥又凶鳘?dú)立成分。常用來(lái)作插入語(yǔ)的結(jié)構(gòu)有I hope,I think,I’m afrad,you know等。插入語(yǔ)可位于句尾或句中,有時(shí)也可出現(xiàn)在疑問(wèn)句。
    2、That's why I didn't see the sign.
    以why引導(dǎo)的從句用來(lái)解釋事情的原因。
    3、Well, next time you'd better take my advice!
    had better用于建議在將來(lái)某一具體場(chǎng)合采取的動(dòng)作,而不用于一般情況,比should語(yǔ)氣更為強(qiáng)烈,常有威脅、告誡或催促的意味。
