男子馬拉松比賽可謂是本屆奧運會的收山之作，然而神話迭現(xiàn)的2004年雅典又在最后時刻讓人們大跌眼鏡——在離終點還有約7公里時，一個頭戴綠色貝雷帽、身著紅色短裙、腿裹一雙綠色及膝長襪的男子突然沖出人群，將當時處于位置的巴西隊員范德萊。利馬連扭帶拽推到了觀眾群中。雖然利馬最終仍堅持完成了比賽，但心神大亂的他只獲得了銅牌。

It was definitely a bizarre way to end the Olympics. Even the highly unusual fact that an American won a silver medal paled in comparison.
