Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing held talks on Monday with leaders of Antigua and Barbuda on bilateral relations in the Caribbean island country's capital of St. John's.
During Li's meetings with Governor General James Carlisle and Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Baldwin Spencer, both sides expressed their satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation in various fields, according to reports from St. John's.
The leaders of Antigua and Barbuda described China as a sincere friend and reliable partner as China deals with bilateral relations with Antigua and Barbuda on an equal footing, adding the Caribbean state will continue to be dedicated to strengthening friendship and cooperation with China.
Li said that as developing countries, developing a friendly and cooperative relationship between both sides conforms to their fundamental interests, and China will continue to make efforts for that.
Li appreciated the host's reiteration of its adherence to the one-China policy.
Both sides agreed to increase exchanges between the governments, parliaments and political parties, and to deepen and expand cooperation in a wide range of fields like economy, trade, culture and tourism.
They also agreed on a joint effort for an early establishment of a dialogue mechanism between China and the 14-member Caribbean Community.
