As a Software Design Engineer Co-op, you will be part of a team of professiona
ls developing and testing software for customer systems controlling PMCs Sys
tem-on-Chip (SoC) wireline infrastructure devices. You will gain hands-on exp
erience with the development tools used for developing and debugging software
that runs in embedded systems. In addition, you will have exposure to existin
g and new communications protocols, including Ethernet, SONET/SDH, GFP, and OT
N.
Responsibilities
Reporting into the Communication Products Division Software Development Team,
your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
• Design, develop, integrate, debug, and verify software components.
• Perform unit testing, system-level and regression testing for the soft
ware.
• Participate in the software release process
• Work with the firmware, hardware and validation teams as part of the d
evelopment activities.
Qualification:
==============
You have previous co-op experience, preferably in the areas of embedded softwa
re/firmware development and testing.
You have experience with C coding.
You have experience with scripting languages like Tcl and Python.
You have experience in defining test cases and test automation.
You have excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
You have a systematic approach to problem-solving within a team and on your ow
n.
You are enrolled in 3rd or 4th year of an Electrical Engineering and / or Comp
uter Science program (or equivalent); CGPA > 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent
)
Preferably, you have understanding of microprocessor architecture fundamentals
.
Preferably, you have understanding of real-time embedded systems fundamentals.
