當than或as的前后所用的動詞相同時，常可以用助動詞代替第二個動詞：
I earn less than he does．
我比他錢掙得少。
主句與從句中的動詞不必使用同一時態(tài)：
He knows more than I did at his age．
他要比我在他這個年齡時懂得多。
如從句由than/as＋I/we/you+動詞組成而時態(tài)并無變化時，常常將動詞省略：
I’m not as old as you（are）．
我沒有你年齡大。
He has more time than I/we（have）．
他的時間比我/我們多。
正規(guī)英語中as/than后仍使用I/we，因為動詞雖被省略，代詞仍被看做是動詞的主語，因此仍用主格。但在非正式英語中，me/us更常用：
He had more time than me．
他比我時間多。
They are richer than us．
他們比我們富有。
如than/as后跟he/she/it+動詞，常常保留動詞：
You are stronger than he is．
你比他強壯。
但在極正式的英語中，可以用he/she/they而免去動詞。在非?？谡Z化的英語中可用him/her/them而免去動詞。

I swim better than he does/better than him．
我游泳比他好。
They work harder than we do/harder than us．
他們比我們干得賣勁。
