And our final local story tonight,an angry NatWest cashier scares off two bank robbers.
Joan White,a 24-year-old cashier at the Bond Street branch of NatWest Bank stopped a bank
robbery after she got angry with one of the robbers.
Ms White started shouting at the robber after she lost her temper with him.When the man asked
her for the cash from her till,she threw it on the floor shouting at him,"If you want the money,you
pick it up."When he came behind the counter to pick up the money,she then hit the robber with a
stapler as he tried to get away.
Instead of taking the ￡2,500 that was in the till,he only got away with ￡25.The second robber
who was waiting by the front door also ran away.
Ms White,from Thfnell Park,North London,says she was angry because the robber shouted at her
and used rude words.
Both robbers were white and had strong Welsh accents.The robber who was hit by Ms White is
said to be about 5'10,of medium build,and with a tattoo of a bird on his left hand.He was wearing
blue cotton trousers,a white short-sleeve shirt and black shoes.The other robber was taller and
heavier,and was wearing black jeans,a blue I-shirt and while training shoes.He also had very short
hair and was suntanned.
