Once upon a time there were four little Rabbits, and their names were—Flopsy,Mopsy,Cotton-tail,and Peter.
很久以前，有四只可愛(ài)的小兔子，他們的名字分別叫佛羅普塞、莫普塞、庫(kù)特泰爾和彼得。
They lived with their Mother in a sand-bank, underneath the root of a very big fir-tree.
他們和他們的媽媽一起，住在一棵大樅樹(shù)樹(shù)根下面的一個(gè)沙洞里。
'Now my dears,' said old Mrs. Rabbit one morning, 'you may go into the fields or down the lane, but don't go into Mr. McGregor's garden: your Father had an accident there; he was put in a pie by Mrs. McGregor.'
“哦，我親愛(ài)的寶貝們”，一天早晨，兔子?jì)寢屨f(shuō)：“你們可以到麥田里或者沿著這條小路去玩，但是千萬(wàn)不能去麥戈雷格先生的菜園。要知道，你們的爸爸就是在那兒出的事兒，他被麥戈雷格先生做成了餡餅?！?BR> 'Now run along, and don't get into mischief. I am going out.'"

Then old Mrs. Rabbit took a basket and her umbrella, and went through the wood to the bakery. She bought a loaf of brown bread and five currant buns.
然后，兔子?jì)寢屘崃藗€(gè)籃子，又拿上她的雨傘，穿過(guò)森林，來(lái)到了一家面包店。她買(mǎi)了一條黑面包和5個(gè)剛剛烤好的小圓果子面包。
Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton-tail, who were good little bunnies, went down the lane to gather blackberries:
佛羅普塞、莫普塞和庫(kù)特泰爾都是懂事又聽(tīng)話的好孩子，他們四個(gè)手拉著手一起到小路下面去撿黑莓。
But Peter, who was very naughty, ran straight away to Mr. McGregor's garden, and squeezed under the gate!
但是，彼得卻沒(méi)聽(tīng)媽媽的話。他太淘氣了，他徑直朝麥戈雷格先生的菜園跑去，一縮身就從大門(mén)底下擠了進(jìn)去!
First he ate some lettuces and some French beans; and then he ate some radishes;
他先在一塊地里吃了些生菜，又跑到另一邊去吃法國(guó)豆，還找到了些小蘿卜來(lái)吃。
And then, feeling rather sick, he went to look for some parsley.
之后，他忽然覺(jué)得有些不舒服，就到處走著，看能不能找到一些西芹。
But round the end of a cucumber frame, whom should he meet but Mr. McGregor!
但是，在走到一個(gè)黃瓜架下面的時(shí)候，他突然碰到了麥戈雷格先生！
Mr. McGregor was on his hands and knees planting out young cabbages, but he jumped up and ran after Peter, waving a rake and calling out, 'Stop thief!'
麥格雷格先生本來(lái)正趴在那兒專(zhuān)注地挖卷心菜，但是看到彼得后他馬上跳了起來(lái)，拼命地追趕彼得，還一邊揮舞著耙子一邊大聲喊道：“站住，小偷！”
Peter was most dreadfully frightened; he rushed all over the garden, for he had forgotten the way back to the gate.He lost one of his shoes among the cabbages, and the other shoe amongst the potatoes.
彼得簡(jiǎn)直被嚇壞了，他滿園子的瘋跑著，可他不記得出去的路了?；呕琶γχ?，他的一只鞋掉進(jìn)了卷心菜地，而另一只鞋也陷進(jìn)了馬鈴薯地里。
