第二天早上，他們又會(huì)一起練劍習(xí)武，為將來報(bào)效祖國(guó)做好準(zhǔn)備。
一天半夜，祖逖在睡夢(mèng)中聽到雞叫聲，便爬起來對(duì)劉琨說：“公雞在叫我們起床，現(xiàn)在就去練劍怎么樣？”劉琨欣然同意了。
從此以后，祖逖和劉琨約定，每天聽到雞叫聲就起床練劍。不管刮風(fēng)下雨，不管酷暑嚴(yán)冬，從來沒有間斷過。
功夫不負(fù)有心人，經(jīng)過長(zhǎng)期的刻苦練習(xí)，祖逖與劉琨都成為既能寫得一手好文章，又能帶兵打勝仗的文武全才。
