taking the bus坐公交車
I just moved to L.A. and don’t have a car.
我剛搬到洛杉磯，還沒有自己的汽車。
Everybody says that you can’t get around this city without one, but I wanted to prove them wrong.

I asked my neighbor to take me to the downtown bus station so I could try taking the bus home.
我讓我的鄰居將我捎到市忠心的公交車站，然后我試著坐公交回家。
She thought I was crazy but gave me a ride.
她認(rèn)為我有點(diǎn)奇怪，不過還是將我搭到了那。
When I got there, I went inside and got a bus schedule.
當(dāng)我到那了，我走進(jìn)汽車站，拿一份公交時(shí)刻表。
I looked at the map and figured out that I needed to take three buses to get home.
我查了查地圖，發(fā)現(xiàn)我要倒三趟車才能到家。
The fare was $1.75 per ride and I could buy a single ticket, a booklet of 20, or a bus pass.
單程是1.75美金，我既可以買單程的票，也可以買20張一套的套票，也可以買一個(gè)不限次的月票。
I would need transfers, too, to change buses.
倒車的時(shí)候我還需要轉(zhuǎn)車票。
I took my map and went outside to wait at the bus stop for the Number 8 bus. 我收起地圖走出車站等8路汽車。
Soon it pulled up and I got on.
很快車來(lái)了，我上了車。
I gave my ticket to the bus driver and took a seat.
我將票給了司機(jī)然后找個(gè)座位坐下。
At the stop where I needed to get off, I rang the bell, the bus stopped, and I got off.
到了我要下的車站，我按響了鈴，車停了，我下車。
I waited for the next bus.
接著等下一輛車。
I waited and waited.
我等呀等呀。
A man who was also waiting for the Number 14 bus said that it wasn’t unusual for the bus to be delayed.
一個(gè)也在那等14路車的男人告訴我這公交車晚點(diǎn)不是什么希罕事。
It finally got there and I found out that the bus had broken down along the route and they had to get another bus to take its place.
終于車來(lái)了，后來(lái)我才知道一輛車路上壞了，他們現(xiàn)調(diào)了另一輛車來(lái)代替這輛車。
By this time, I was getting pretty tired.
這會(huì)，我感覺到非常疲憊。
Maybe getting a car in L.A. wasn’t such a bad idea.
也許在洛杉磯生活擁有一輛車真不是什么壞主意。
