I do not agree that parents should be in the process of helping their children choose a university because first of all, I think it really should be the child’s choice as to where they want to go to college. I really wanted to go to Notre Dame but because it wasn’t in the same state that my parents lived in, they didn’t want me to go there.
Second of all, if a child doesn’t even get to choose their own university, I think it will make them less motivated to be successful in school all together. I went to college for many years and was never really that motivated because I didn’t get the university I wanted. I found it very hard to concentrate because it just never felt right and that made my college experience very difficult.
That’s why I think that parents should not be in the process of helping their children choose a university.
