    cotton on是英國英語中的一種非正規(guī)的口語表達方式，意即“理解,懂得”，其后面往往跟 to something。 例如：At last, she’s cottoned on to what they mean.(后她終于明白了他們的意圖。）再例如：He’d been speaking for half an hour before I cottoned on.(他講了半個小時,我才明白他的意思。）
