課文注釋
1 I had expected to be near my objective by now，我本以為這時(shí)已經(jīng)接近目的地了。
“expect的過(guò)去完成時(shí)+不定式的一般式”，表示過(guò)去想做而未做的事。
2 become（be）absorbed in…，作“專心致志于……”、“全神貫注于……”講。
