Brush off的原意是“刷掉，刷掉, 撣掉, 拂掉”的意思。例如：Dust on the surface brushes off easily. (表面的灰塵容易撣掉。)Please brush this insect off.(請把這只蟲撣掉。)在口語中，可以用來表示“拒絕，漠視，不理睬”等意思。
