Dozens of sexual assaults were perpetrated against women on New Year ’s Eve in Cologne, Germany, sparking a debate about the country’s refugee-friendly policy, AFP reported. Out of the 32 suspects identified so far 22 were seeking asylum. Critics have blamed these assaults on Germany’s policy of welcoming refugees and migrants. German leaders, meanwhile, warned against anti-migrant scapegoating.
