    fairly, quite, rather, very, pretty的語法區(qū)別
    (1) 這幾個詞都可表示程度，但語氣的輕重不同，大致可描述如下(后面的詞比前面的語氣強(qiáng))：(not) → fairly → quite → rather / pretty → very
    (2) 這幾個詞中，只有 rather 可以與比較級和副詞 too (太)連用：
    It’s rather warmer today. 今天暖和多了。
    This one is rather too large. 這個稍大了一點(diǎn)。
    The dress was rather too small for her. 這件連衣裙她穿太小了一點(diǎn)。
    【注】quite 有時也與比較級連用, 但通常只限于 quite better (身體健康)這一表達(dá)中。
    (3) rather 和 quite 有時可直接修飾動詞, 而其他幾個副詞一般不這樣用：
    I rather like that smell. 我有些喜歡這種氣味。
    I quite agree with you. 我完全同意你的意見。
    I quite agree that neither are suitable for a newspaper. 我完全同意兩者都不適宜在報(bào)紙上發(fā)表。
    (4) rather和quite 與“冠詞+形容詞+名詞”連用時，通常置于冠詞之前，有時也可放在冠詞之后。但遇此類似情況，very 或 fairly 則只能放在冠詞之后(形容詞之前)：
    It’s quite [rather] a good idea. / It’s a quite [rather] good idea. 那可真是個好主意。
    【注】若此結(jié)構(gòu)中沒有形容詞，則 quite 和 rather只能放在冠詞之前：
    It was quite [rather] a success. 那事相當(dāng)成功。
    (5) 修飾不可分級的形容詞(如right, wrong, ready, full, empty, perfect, impossible, alone, unique等)通常只用quite，此時quite并不表示“相當(dāng)”或“很”，而表示“完全”：
    You’re quite right (wrong). 你完全正確(錯了)。
    That’s quite impossible. 那完全不可能。
    The dress of the natives is quite unique. 土著人的衣服很獨(dú)特。
