Should corporations continue to offer jobs for life or has this practice already become obsolete? Personally, I concede that jobs for life are no longer in accordance with the thriving business of the 21st century.
Admittedly, staff will feel less pressured and more secure if they are guaranteed a job for life. Instead of feeling anxious regarding a future fraught with uncertainly, employees can still rely on their job even if other things go awry. However, the ultimate goal of any business enterprise—maximizes the profit—renders this type of job obsolete. First, in order to improve productivity, companies have to dismiss workers who are less competent or less industrious. Otherwise, retaining staff that are not qualified or cannot meet the standards is detrimental to business. Furthermore, since no jobs are provided for life, employees who are ambitious and hard-working will naturally be motivated to achieve excellence. In addition, the ubiquitous sense of competition also makes permanent jobs outmoded. Although life-long positions are offered occasionally to commend individuals who have made a major contribution, in most circumstances, contracts are drawn on a yearly basis.
In the final analysis, I believe that the diminishing of permanent jobs is inevitable and this is actually advantageous for societal progress.
Imagine this, some day, when you wake up and being told that you have hit the lottery, can you believe that you are a millionaire! What a great luck, that is thousands of people’s dream. As lottery gets popular, people hold the little hope that they will be the lucky guy. The temptation of lottery can’t be resisted.
Everyone wants to get great fortune without hard work; lottery gives them such a chance. The temptation of lottery in that it provides people the small hope to become rich, people have the idea how impossible it is, but they still grasp the smallest hope. They just keep buying lottery, even though let down many times. Some bad guys cheat people in this way, they send the fake message to tell people that they hit the lottery and need to hand in some money for the exchange of the big account.
Lottery gives people the fantasy to become rich, but the true is we will never be the lucky guy, we have to know clearly that the only way to gain fortune is to work hard, never cheat by your inner desire, though the temptation is hard to resist, we must have the thought that fortune is created by ourselves.
Specialists’ suggestions seem to be everywhere nowadays. They frequently appear in advertisements, TV shows, and the news discussion and so on. However, some people hold the opinion that the specialists’ suggestions are not as authoritative as before. We should not trust them anymore. However, in my opinion, I think we can believe in specialists as long as they are honest, and the products they recommend to us are proved to be good.
First of all, there are more than a few fake specialists in China. These fake specialists pretend to be professional in the public. Some of the immoral advertisers use money to hire the fake specialists to be their products spokesmen. Then the consumer will fall for the beautiful lies the so called specialists tell them. The truth is that the real specialists are forbidden to take up these kinds of ads; they should stay in their labs and do experiments. Second, the real specialists are quite intelligent and they are able to solve many problems. They can teach us lots of knowledge that we ever learn from the textbooks. For instance, they may teach us how to stay in good health through eating particular food, or the effective way to reduce stress. The most important thing is the words they say are proved to be true. In this case, we can believe in the specialists.
I think the rational people can tell the different between fake and real specialists. If you see the specialist on the TV to sell medicine in an extremely high price, don’t trust them. If they offer you practical advices, then you will know they are real.
