The Shame of Plagiarism
In order to get high marks, some students figure out all the ways, the worse situation is to plagiarize other student’s hard-working. Plagiarism is a big mistake, the teachers are always emphasizing it, but the lazy students go against the rule, they want to pass assessment easily. These students should be shameful about themselves.
On the one hand, plagiarizing means the lack of respect of other students’ hard-working. Students need to spend many hours and put a lot of effort to finish the paper; the outcome means their wisdom and paid, just as the old saying, “no pain, no gain”. While the lazy students destroy other students’ effort, they just get the job done without their own thinking; they can even get the more high marks. This is very unfair; every student should finish the task in their own wisdom, showing respect to each other.
On the other hand, the students who are used to plagiarism will end up hurting themselves. If the students’ such behavior is found by others, they will get bad record in their files, which means they will have problem on trust issues, it is hard for them to find a job. If they are lucky to not be found, they still learn nothing, they lack of ability.
In conclusion, plagiarism is a shameful behavior; students should learn things by their own minds.
Students’ Evaluation of Teachers
Many years ago, there is no way for students to evaluate teachers, for people treat the teachers in a high level, students are in the low level, they are immature. Now, many schools have carried on this practice, I believe such that evaluations are good for both teachers and students.
On the one hand, students’ evaluation of the teachers can promote the harmonious environment between teachers and students. Teachers always give students the serious impression, they just like the unchallenging authority. But now, people emphasize the equal relationship in education, which means teachers and students learn from each other. Students can give their opinion to teachers, teachers can improve themselves.
On another hand, teachers can benefit from students’ evaluation. In tradition, teachers assess a student from the test, they master a student’s learning level according to the exams, but it is not enough. Students are the major learners, they can evaluate a teacher, letting he know how his teaching method goes, the teacher can adjust his method according to students’ reaction.
In conclusion, the evaluation about the teachers is beneficial, teachers can know their advantages and disadvantages, they can improve their teaching methods and to create a harmonious learning phenomenon.
Be a Truly Smart Consumer
Social and economic development today has not only brought us new kinds of goods and services, but also greatly changed the way we buy goods and services. As students mostly rely on their families, along with the increasing pressure of daily life, they are more careful with their money: they collect all kinds of coupons, look for group-buy deals for eating and travelling, and buy clothes only on sale. For most people, this seems to be a smart way of enjoying better life at less expense. For me, however, this may not make us become smart buyers.
I think such habits as buying with coupons or in the form of group-buy deals will easily result in overbuying and blind consumption. Buyers tend to think that coupons and group-buy deals give them a great advantage of saving money. It is praiseworthy that students choose to buy something they’re really in need of in such a way. But most of time, it is hard for them to refrain from being tempted to buy things offered at a tempting discount. The ultimate result is that they spend more money than they have planned before and harvest a heap of what they don’t really need.
All in all, we should buy things out of necessity and ration instead of impulse. Don’t be confounded with lust and greed when seeing much cheaper things. Look before you leap. Only in this way can we be a truly smart consumer.
