as詞性多,詞義廣,用法靈活,現(xiàn)將其用法歸納如下:
I. as作副詞, 表示程度, 意為“同樣地”。“as…as…”,表示“和/與……一樣”,是同級比較,其中第一個as是副詞;否定句中常用“not so…as…”,表示“和/與……不一樣”。如:
Jack is as tall as his father.杰克和他的父親一樣高。
He doesn’t speak English so/ as fluently as you.
他的英語說得不如你流利。
II. as作介詞。
①如,像
They got united as one man.
他們團結(jié)得像一個人一樣。
She spoke of me as her dearest friend。
她談起我猶如我是她最親密的朋友。
②充當,作為
As a writer, he was famous.作為作家,他是很有名的。
English is spoken as the first language by most people in Australia.

③當某人是(某身份)時
As a child (=When he was a child),he lived in the countryside.他小時候住在農(nóng)村。
III. as作連詞, 常用來引導(dǎo)狀語從句
①引導(dǎo)時間狀語從句, 表示“當……的時候”;“隨著……”。如:
He shouted loud as he ran along.
他一邊往前跑,一邊高聲地呼喊。
We get wiser as we get older.
隨著年齡的增長,我們變得更聰明。
②引導(dǎo)原因狀語從句,表示“因為,由于”。如:
As it was getting very late, we soon turned back.
因為很晚了,我們很快就回來了。
I must stop writing now, as I have rather a lot of work to do.
我必須停筆了,因為我還有許多工作要做。
③引導(dǎo)比較狀語從句,表示“像……一樣地”。如:
They always work as hard as we do.
他們工作總是像我們一樣努力。
(句中第二個as是連詞,引導(dǎo)比較狀語從句,也屬于同級比較)
IV. as作關(guān)系代詞, 引導(dǎo)定語從句,表示“正如……”。如:
He was a foreigner, as I knew from his accent.
