赴美國留學(xué)，須知美國中學(xué)課程設(shè)置與評分體系：
1、Basic curricular structure必修課
Science 自然科學(xué)(usually three years minimum, including biology, chemistry, physics)
Mathematics 數(shù)學(xué)(usually three years minimum, including algebra, geometry, algebra II, and/or precalculus/trigonometry)
English語言 (usually four years minimum, including literature, humanities, etc)
Social Science社會科學(xué) (various history, government, and economics courses, always including American history)
Physical education 體育(at least one year)
2、Electives(選修課)
Common types of electives include:
Visual arts (drawing, sculpture, painting, photography, film)
Performing arts (drama, band, chorus, orchestra, dance)
Technology education ("Shop"; woodworking, metalworking, automobile repair, robotics)
Computers (word processing, programming, graphic design)
Athletics (cross country, football, baseball, basketball, track and field, swimming, tennis, gymnastics, water polo, soccer, wrestling, cheerleading)
Publishing (journalism/student newspaper, yearbook/annual, literary magazine)
Foreign languages (Spanish, French are common; Chinese, Latin, Greek, German,and Japanese are less common)
3、高中GPA 舉例
GPA，就是grade point average，學(xué)業(yè)平均成績。A=4，B=3，C=2，D=1，F(xiàn)=0，每門課的各個任課老師給出學(xué)年ABCD后，學(xué)校把整個高中的所有科目的成績都平均起來，得到一個值，叫做unweight GPA。
因為學(xué)校有不同等級的課，AP補助2分，Honor補助一分，regular沒有補助，最后，再把這些所有補助的分?jǐn)?shù)加起來，除以15，得數(shù)加到unweight GPA上，得到一個值稱為weight GPA。每個學(xué)校不同，我們學(xué)校就是用weight GPA排名(class ranking)，所以導(dǎo)致了選課的競爭。
4、學(xué)期、假期、考試
其他要點：
一年三個學(xué)期：9月初-12月中旬;1月初-3月初;3月下旬-6月初
4個假期：X’mas, Thanksgiving, Spring break, Summer vacation
SLEP：針對母語非英語的學(xué)生的語言測試
SSAT：美國中學(xué)入學(xué)測試
PSAT：SAT預(yù)考，10年級、11年級學(xué)生均可參加;美國學(xué)生參加可獲得“國家獎學(xué)金”
5、美國私立中學(xué)一天的日常安排
Day schedule:
7:00-7:25 a.m.: breakfast 早餐
After breakfast, students are expected to return to their dorms, clean up their rooms, and finish their dorm jobs. Morning assembly, which is a time when students and faculty members have a chance to make announcements, begins at 8:00 a.m.
8:10 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m.: academic classes 上課
3:00-6:00pm: afternoon activity: athletics, music, or art
6:00pm:day students go home and boarders have a family style dinner;
After dinner-7:30pm: free time
7:30-9:30pm: upper school students study at study hall;7:30-9:00pm for middle school students;
When study hall ends, students have some free time on campus, but must return to their dorms before 10:00 p.m.
Lights out for middle school students is 10:00 p.m.; for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, it is 10:30 p.m.; and for seniors and postgraduates, lights out is 11:00 p.m.

美國高中留學(xué)選校三個準(zhǔn)則
第一、可考慮美國教會學(xué)校

在這里的學(xué)生比例主要是指種族之間的一個比例，留學(xué)專家表示，美國是一個移民國家，各個種族在學(xué)校里面都可以找到，這樣也就是說在學(xué)生選擇美國的高中時中國學(xué)生不可太多，這樣對于學(xué)生的語言環(huán)境及性格的塑造是非常不利的。
第三、可根據(jù)高中所在的區(qū)域做為擇校標(biāo)準(zhǔn)
在選擇美國的高中時地域也可以做為擇校的一個參考，據(jù)留學(xué)專家介紹，在美國的東岸文化底蘊較好，而且優(yōu)質(zhì)的學(xué)校也較多。而且留學(xué)專家還要提醒的一點是，學(xué)校所處的地域也是直接影響到留學(xué)的費用問題，一般較為偏遠(yuǎn)的地區(qū)學(xué)費較低生活費用也很少，所以建議資金的基礎(chǔ)并非十分雄厚的學(xué)生申請偏遠(yuǎn)但是教育質(zhì)量不錯的高中就讀。
