美國學校提供的學位有很多種,依所學領域的不同,而有不同的學位。以下列出的是美國高等教育中較常見的學位:
Ph.D.（Doctor of Philosophy）: 博士學位。
而有些領域的博士課程會有不同的學位名稱,如D.A.（Doctor of Arts）、Ed.D.（Doctor of Education M.B.A.（Master of Business Administration）: 商學管理碩士。
M.A.（Master of Arts）碩士；B.A.（Bachelor of Arts）學士: 兩者皆屬于人文、藝術或社會科學的領域,如文學、教育、藝術、音樂。
M.S.（Master of Science）碩士；B.S.（Bachelor of Science）學士: 兩者皆屬于理工、科學的領域,如數(shù)學、物理、信息等。
Associate Degree（副學士學位）: 讀完兩年制小區(qū)大學或職業(yè)技術學校所得到的學位。
Dual Degree（雙學位）: 是由兩個不同學院分別授與,因此得到的是兩個學位。
Joint Degree:為兩個不同學院聯(lián)合給予一個學位,如法律經(jīng)濟碩士。
