在日期方面，美英的表達方式是有差別的。以日為先，月份為后，此為英國式，美國式則與此相反。如一九九六年三月二日的寫法：

在美式的寫法中，1st， 2nd， 3rd的st， nd， rd是不使用的。由于日期書面表達不同，讀法也不一樣。如1987年4月20日，英式的寫法是20th April， 1987，讀成the twentieth of April， nineteen eighty-seven；美式的表達是April 20， 1987，則讀成April the twentieth， nineteen eighty-seven.同樣，全部用數(shù)字表達日期時，英美也有差別。1998年5月6日按照英國式應(yīng)寫成6/5/98，而按照美國式應(yīng)寫成5/6/98；01.08.1998是英國式的1998年8月1日，按照美國的表達方式卻是1998年1月8日，美國的1998年8月1日應(yīng)寫成08，01，1998.因此，全部使用數(shù)字來表示日期時，往往發(fā)生誤解，在商務(wù)活動中必須謹(jǐn)慎使用。
表達百萬以上的數(shù)字概念英美的差別甚大，如one billion英語指的是'萬億''兆'，而美語則只'十億'；one trillion英語晨相當(dāng)于million million million=1018，是百萬兆，在美語里卻相當(dāng)于英國英語的one billion，是'萬億'、'兆'.
