口語(yǔ)考試總共分為三個(gè)部分，根據(jù)考生具體的考試情況，歷時(shí)十到十五分鐘不等。考試形式采用考官和考生一對(duì)一面談的形式，通過(guò)考生針對(duì)多種話(huà)題的回答來(lái)綜合評(píng)價(jià)考生的口語(yǔ)表達(dá)能力。三個(gè)部分包括：1、基本信息和問(wèn)題（4-5分鐘）----考官針對(duì)考生本人提出一些問(wèn)題，數(shù)量大約為4-9個(gè)，涉及4-6方面的話(huà)題；2、話(huà)題描述（3-4分鐘）----要求考生就某一具體話(huà)題展開(kāi)詳細(xì)描述；3、深入討論（4-5分鐘）----考官在第二部分考生所談?wù)摰脑?huà)題上延伸出比較深入的問(wèn)題，要求考生進(jìn)行談?wù)摗?BR> 口語(yǔ)考試的第一部分通常被認(rèn)為是整個(gè)考試的導(dǎo)入部分?？脊僭谶@一部分中會(huì)詢(xún)問(wèn)考生一些和他們本身有關(guān)的問(wèn)題，通過(guò)較為簡(jiǎn)單的提問(wèn)來(lái)達(dá)到讓考生放松情緒的目的，以便在整個(gè)考試過(guò)程中能夠正常發(fā)揮他們的語(yǔ)言水平。主要涉及話(huà)題有：工作、學(xué)習(xí)、家庭、興趣愛(ài)好、休閑活動(dòng)、家鄉(xiāng)、城市交通、天氣、個(gè)人打算和計(jì)劃等等。盡管事實(shí)的確如此，然而雅思口語(yǔ)測(cè)試并非類(lèi)似我們通常和朋友進(jìn)行的隨意交談。一段日常生活中和朋友進(jìn)行的友好的隨意的對(duì)話(huà)，其內(nèi)容如果作為雅思口語(yǔ)考試的回答可能會(huì)顯得有失妥當(dāng)。對(duì)于考生來(lái)說(shuō)，值得注意的是考官和提問(wèn)的時(shí)候是有其特殊目的的----他們要通過(guò)短短的十幾分鐘時(shí)間的回答來(lái)評(píng)估考生的語(yǔ)言能力，所以為考官提供足夠的語(yǔ)言供他們判斷尤為重要。因此，我們?cè)谄綍r(shí)對(duì)話(huà)當(dāng)中所運(yùn)用的平實(shí)的語(yǔ)言，從雅思口語(yǔ)考試的角度來(lái)衡量很可能不是好的答案。
那么什么才是一個(gè)比較“雅思”的回答呢？我們且通過(guò)下面的例子進(jìn)行說(shuō)明：

Answer One: Basketball. 籃球。
