“哐——哐——哐——”的聲音越來越響，越來越急……那“哐”的聲音已經(jīng)驚動(dòng)了樹林中的鳥兒，鳥兒們心里想：是什么聲音這么刺耳呀，真煩哪！當(dāng)鳥兒們看見一個(gè)伐木工人正在起勁地亂砍伐樹木的情景之后，一只啄木鳥在伐木工人的不知不覺中，已經(jīng)悄悄地站在伐木工人的肩膀上了，伐木工人卻還不知道?！斑选?——哐——”，伐木工人不停地砍著樹木。此時(shí)，他已經(jīng)砍下四棵大樹了！啄木鳥“嚓”地一聲，重重地啄在了伐木工人的腦袋上。“哎呦！”伐木工人驚叫了一聲，他回頭一看是啄木鳥，嚇得連忙把砍樹工具扔在了一邊，飛快地逃走了（他從小就怕啄木鳥來啄他）。
啄木鳥還沒弄明白是怎么回事，就從伐木工人的肩膀上掉了下來。啄木鳥回到同伴們身邊，對(duì)它們說：“那個(gè)工人好像是被我嚇到了，已經(jīng)逃走了?！薄肮?！”同伴們笑著那個(gè)伐木工人，又說：“一定是這樣的，看他以后還敢不敢來濫砍濫伐！”
再說那個(gè)伐木工人嚇得逃回了工廠后，跟廠長說明情況后，辭了職回到了家里。
從此以后，工廠后面的那片樹林里，再也沒有人去過，啄木鳥們?cè)谀抢锇残牡厣钪?，使人們不再破壞它們的家園。
